Glassblowing in Cape Cod

Spent several relaxing days in Cape Cod, MA. The town we visited was Dennisport, MA which happened to have our good friend Fritz Lauenstein’s glass art studio. Of course I had to visit on the hottest day. I can only imagine what it was like for Fritz who was in the midst of blowing glass. Fritz Glass is located on Upper County Road in Dennis Port, Cape Cod.  A fantastic location! Enjoy my images from my visit with Fritz Glassblowing Studio!...

All of the featured contemporary glass artists have been influenced by traditional Italian glassmaking techniques. I have admired for many years, the hand blown glass artwork created by Italian glass master, Lino Tagliapietra. To see his large scale vessels in person is impressive! His glass sculptures titled, Balbao and Dinosaur, really caught...

Art Glass | Architectural Digest Home Design 2015

Art Glass at the Architectural Digest Home Design Show was inspirational this year. This is my second year visiting the show in New York City at Pier 94. Most of my time was spent within the Made Section of the show, visiting with several glass artists. My personal favorites from the show, demonstrate uniqueness in color and design.   1. Jaime Harris Studios: Amazing technique that is shown  within his Encalmo Orb Vessels. “The Incalmo vessels series represents an ever-changing examination of color contrast within a more sculptural...

Top 4 Glass Sculpture

Top 4 glass sculpture are my chosen picks for the best in organic forms. The chosen artists have similar inspiration found within natural forms. Their varied interpretations in glass are rather exciting to find! I have found them to be a source of inspiration in the contemporary glass world. Benjamin Cobb “ I have always been intrigued by science; this is where I pull my interest and inspiration. Natural forms, biology, and botany, from cellular forms to shapes and proportions of people; all of these things inspire what I make. I focus on...

Designer Insights Feature | Bernard Katz

Designer Insights Feature What makes designers, artists, and creative types ‘tick’? It is interesting to read about how designers approach the creative process. The Designer Insights series provides a quick view into a designer’s world. Many top designers have been highlighted in this series. I really enjoy the format of these interviews… Designers answer five questions and provide great photos of their work and inspirations. I learned what makes creative types ‘tick’, is never the same.
