My Philosophy:"to live in balance and harmony"
Hozho is living life in balance, a Navajo way of life.

My background:
I graduated from Moore College of Art & Design with a degree in Art Education & Sculpture. After college, I spent over 15 years teaching elementary art to children throughout the Delaware Valley. I also created a cultural indigenous art program, working with many schools creating art murals and sculpture installation.

The last 10 years, I have owned a business that sells art glass, which has lead into sales & marketing for small businesses. Today I am going back to my original passion which is creating art and combining my marketing skills for sales of my own art.

Artistic Roots

I have always been drawn to art since my earliest years at Rhode Island School of Design in high school.

During my years at Moore College of Art, I visited my ancestral Navajo homelands for the first time and was in awe of the beauty of the land.

 Inspiration
I was inspired by the creation story and how we are connected to the land spiritually.

My artwork explores my background as a Navajo Indian adopted into a white family. Growing up in two worlds and balancing both worlds, as in a white middle class family and my Native American roots.

I enjoy working in watercolors, pastels, and charcoal creating layers of movement. How I am drawn to the harmony of the spirits that call me to create art.-Katie Schuele-Katz
